The rollercoaster effect
The thrills, trials and tribulations of being a business owner!
Running a business is like a thrilling rollercoaster ride - exciting, rewarding, and sometimes quite daunting. And if you've been on the Incredicoaster at Disney in LA, you'll know exactly what I mean.
But hey, we're in this together, right?
Through my own ups and downs in the entrepreneurial world, I've picked up some neat tips and tricks that have made all the difference in finding that sweet work-life harmony... OK, you got me. As close to it as possible, then!
So, here are a few of my suggestions to get you started on your journey:
★ Embrace your unique path; comparison is sooooo overrated!
Comparison is the thief of joy - it's a well-known phrase that couldn't be truer! So you do what's right for you and your business and watch it flourish and grow.
★ Let go of what you can't control (hint: that'll be most things!)
Know that if something happens, you’ll deal with it and you'll survive. Just like you did all the other times when things didn’t quite go your way. It's frustrating at the time - but, hey, gotta stay on the ride cos you're strapped in now and the fun part is looming!
★ Create a to-do list superhero-style (with prioritisation powers!)
Are you even a business owner if you don't have a "to-do" list? I know... the list doesn't ever get smaller does it? So if you prioritise your list, you'll be able to focus on work better.
★ Know how - and when - to raise the flag and ask for help.
Delegating is the way to grow your business. Learning to delegate can be the difference between your business expanding and thriving, or burnout and poor mental health. You can't and don't need to, do it all alone.
★ Set boundaries, say no to what doesn't serve you.
Say no to things that don’t benefit you or your business and say no to things that don’t quite feel right (trust your gut! IYKYK) because sometimes that's 100% the right option!
★ Be a time-blocker pro and save those precious minutes.
Keeping similar tasks together in one group rather than starting/stopping different projects. It saves time, and we all know that time is precious! We have to use it wisely.
★ Remember, taking breaks isn't a luxury, it's a necessity!
Probably the most important tip of all. The most important thing to help you maintain a good work-life balance is to make sure you take time off and set a clear working day. You need downtime so you can better serve your customers.
And always keep in mind, you don't have to be a one-person circus act!
