Social media FOMO?
Let's fix that!
OK.... let's be honest....
Trying to keep up with social media can feel like having a full-time job. Just when you've finally worked out Instagram, someone tells you that you need to be on TikTok. Then Threads appears. Then another platform. Honestly... who has the time? 😅
The good news?
You don't need to be everywhere.
You just need to be where your people are.
Still brilliant for local businesses, community groups and keeping people up to date.
Perfect if you're a local business or offer services.
Still my favourite after all these years! 💗
If you've got lovely photos, behind-the-scenes snippets or enjoy making Reels, Instagram is a great place to build your brand.
People buy from people, so don't be afraid to show your pretty little face!
If you work with other businesses (especially in professional services), LinkedIn is fantastic for building relationships and showing your expertise.
No dancing required - but you do what's right for you, obvs!
TikTok
You don't need a ring light and a viral dance routine.
Simple, authentic videos often perform best. If you're happy chatting to the camera or sharing tips, it's definitely worth considering.... because it works!
YouTube
Perfect if you enjoy teaching or explaining things.
Videos can keep working for you months (or even years) after you've uploaded them.
Think of Pinterest as Google with pretty pictures.
Great if you write blogs, sell products or have lots of visual content.
Google Business Profile
Ummm..... technically it's not social media.
But if you're a local business, it deserves a place on this list.
Think about it... when you're looking for a café, hairdresser or solicitor, where do you look first? Usually Google.
So.... keeping your Google Business Profile up to date helps people find you, see your opening hours, read your reviews and even browse your latest updates.
The best bit? You can post regular updates, photos, offers and news - just like you would on social media. Simples.
So... which one should you choose?
Start with one or two if you want.
Get comfortable.
Post consistently.
Then think about expanding.
I'd much rather see a business posting regularly on one platform than trying to be everywhere and disappearing after two weeks because it's all become a bit overwhelming. Yes... it happens!
Social media doesn't have to be complicated.
Show up. Be yourself. Be helpful. Be happy.
And remember... people follow people, not perfect marketing.
