I'll just do this one thing...

You know that moment when you sit down to do just one thing?

That was me recently.

I had a clear plan. One task. Get it done.

But then…

I spotted something small that needed fixing. So I sorted that quickly.

While doing that, something else popped up. Then another.

Before I knew it, I had:
• Checked an automation
• Tweaked something on a website
• Replied to a few emails
• Looked at accounts
• Fixed a small branding detail

All useful. All necessary. All part of running a business.

And that’s the problem.

These aren’t “distractions”. They’re real tasks that need doing. But they quietly pull you away from the thing you actually sat down to focus on.

By the end of the day? That original task is still sitting there… waiting.

Why this happens...

When you run your own business, everything feels important. Uhm - because it is.

Admin, emails, systems, website tweaks, client work… it all matters.

But not everything needs your attention right now.

This is where time disappears. Not in big dramatic ways, but in small, constant task-switching that chips away at your focus.

Something that may help. 

I try (but I am human, so it doesn't always go to plan....) stick to one simple rule:

If it takes under five minutes - do it. 
If not, write it down and go back to what I was doing and come back to it later. 

It sounds obvious. But surprisingly hard in practice.

Because those little “quick jobs” are everywhere.

And that's why support makes a difference.
